School armed robbery suspect arrested

A suspect of an armed robbery that occurred at Ecole Secondaire Catholique L'Horizon in Val Caron on November 29, 2006 has been arrested following a lengthy investigation by the Greater Sudbury Police Service.

The male, 18, who was a young person at the time of the offence, can not be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The young man is charged with robbery with a firearm, forcible confinement and disguise with intent.

The incident involved several men armed with handguns entering the school and restraining a female custodian who was working at the time. The men entered several areas of the school and removed laptop computers and multi-media projectors.

Police are still looking for the other individuals involved and are stating that anyone with information should phone the Criminal Investigations Branch at 675-9171 ext 2615 or report their information anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 675-TIPS.
