The discovery of three empty gun vaults and random bits of property in a ditch on North Shore Road, off Nepewassi Road, during the afternoon of Dec. 21 has led police to discover five properties that had been burglarized.
The cottages are located on Hendrie Township Road, Twin Bay Road, and North Shore Road, southeast of Greater Sudbury in the Estaire and Nepewassi Lake area.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) believe the break and enters occurred between 1 p.m. on Dec 18 and 1 p.m. on Dec. 21, according to a news release.
Several firearms were stolen during the break and enter, from both the abandoned gun vaults and others located within the cottages.
Also missing is a Stack-On gun vault for long guns (48 x 15 inches), and Schwabb gun vault for long guns (20 x 20 inches), and a grey Beach toolbox.
The OPP are urging anyone with properties in the area to visit their properties and ensure they have not been victims of a break and enter.
If it is discovered a property has been broken into, the OPP request that individuals do not enter and instead contact police. This will assist in preserving the scene.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122, or Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers at 222-8477(TIPS).
