With the assistance of Toronto Police Service, a 24-year-old woman was arrested in Southern Ontario on March 14 and transported back to Sudbury. She is facing numerous firearms and drug offences.

It was just after 6 p.m. on March 10 that officers were dispatched to a weapons complaint in the area of Brebeuf Avenue. When police arrived, they found an injured man with what they believed to be a gunshot wound.

On March 11, GSPS released additional information on the incident. Police said officers had been dispatched to a residence on Davidson Street in the Uptown neighbourhood at around 5:15 p.m. that Sunday for a weapons complaint, as well as a report that a person had been shot and needed medical attention.

“When officers arrived on scene, they located a 27-year-old man who had sustained what is believed to be a gunshot wound,” GSPS said. “The man was transported to hospital by Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services and remains in critical condition.”

Officers on the scene were able to follow a trail of blood that police said led to a residence on Brebeuf Avenue. Concerned there could be other injured people inside the residential unit, the police Emergency Response Team entered, but found no other people inside.

“Through the investigation, it is believed that the original altercation took place inside the residential unit on Brebeuf Avenue and that the individuals involved fled the area prior to police arrival.”
