A man caught doing double the speed limit is in police custody after police discovered he was also breaking probation orders.

On Feb. 26, around 3:30 p.m., offers were conducting radar enforcement on Notre Dame Avenue in Hanmer. An officer stopped a vehicle being operated at 80 km/hr in a posted 40 km/hr zone.

The 35-year-old driver was known to the officer as an individual bound by a Long-Term Supervision Order with many conditions, including prohibiting him from associating with certain persons, and prohibiting his movements except under certain conditions.

The 23-year-old passenger in the vehicle was found to be wanted on a warrant by North Bay OPP for possessing a controlled substance. Police searched the young man and found him to be in possession of brass knuckles.

The driver of the vehicle has been charged with speeding and arrested and held for bail for breaching the conditions of his Long-Term Supervision Order.

The passenger has been arrested and held for bail for possessing a prohibited weapon. He will be returned to North Bay on the warrant on his release in Sudbury.
