A stand-off between a barricaded man and Greater Sudbury Police in the Whitson Gardens area of Chelmsford is over, after the lone occupant of the house in question turned himself in to police.

According to Constable Albert Lapalme, the man gave himself up to police around 9:50 a.m., Feb. 3.

Police responded to a complaint about the man around 6:10 a.m. The area between Water and Bridge Streets was closed to incoming and outgoing traffic until the scene was secured, and then outgoing traffic was allowed to resume.

Cst. Lapalme was unable to confirm if weapons were present, though he said the possibility was something police prepared for when attending the scene.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
