On Aug. 23, the Greater Sudbury Police Service?s (GSPS) tactical unit arrested two Sudbury men at the Canadian Tire Gas Bar on Regent St. S. in relation to a double murder in Cornwall.
James Maestrello, 29, and Michael Boyle, 31, were both charged with first degree murder in the July 16 shooting deaths of Peter Benedict, 34, and Jade Benedict, 27, from Akwesasne.
Peter and Jade Benedict are reported to be cousins.
On the same night, a Cornwall man was found severely wounded at a residence in South Stormont Township. Roger Belair, 39, of Cornwall is charged with attempted murder. Police believe both incidents are related.
Boyle, Maestrello and Belair were all scheduled to appear in court in Cornwall yesterday.
