A 19-year-old resident of Greater Sudbury has been arrested and will be facing several child pornography charges, stemming from an investigation by Ontario provincial police (OPP) and Greater Sudbury police.
A warrant was executed on a location outside of Greater Sudbury by the OPP's Child Sexual Exploitation Section, during which information led officers to believe the man now resided in Greater Sudbury. The Cyber Crime Unit of the Greater Sudbury police was contacted.
A warrant was secured to search the suspect's residence by local police, and was executed on Nov. 18. During this search, a laptop, several storage devices, and pornographic photos and videos depicting minors were seized. On Nov. 19, the suspect was arrested.
Greater Sudbury police confirmed that the seized material was serious in nature.
He has been charged with two cases of possession of child pornography, making child pornography available, and accessing child pornography.
He is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on Nov. 20.
