Greater Sudbury Police Service Chief Paul Pedersen was sworn-in as president of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) at the annual general meeting in Toronto on June 26.

“It is an honour to be entrusted with and sworn into the position of president of the OACP,” said Pedersen.

“It is also a tremendous opportunity to provide and receive valuable input on community safety and potential solutions to policing issues that will not only benefit Services across Ontario, but those serving in the North including my community of Greater Sudbury.”

Chief Pedersen succeeds Chief Kimberley Greenwood of the Barrie Police Service as President of the OACP.

“The board extends its sincere congratulations to Chief Pedersen on this most prestigious appointment. Chief Pedersen is a well-respected police leader in Sudbury and in fact across the country. OACP will be well-served by him in this important role,” said police services board chair Michael Vagnini.
