Suspect driving truck with license plates stolen from military

A 19-year-old Sudbury man driving a pick-up truck with license plates later found to be stolen from the Canadian military was arrested during the afternoon of Nov. 6. Officers had stopped the truck on Sparks Street in New Sudbury.

A 19-year-old Sudbury woman is in custody and has been charged with theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property, breach of probation, breach of recognizance, dangerous driving, flight, fail to stop, plus additional traffic act offenses. A 19-year-old Sudbury man driving a pick-up truck with license plates later found to be stolen from the Canadian military was arrested during the afternoon of Nov. 6.

Officers had stopped the truck on Sparks Street in New Sudbury. The man driving the truck initially provided the officers with a false identity.

After the officers determined the man's real identity, it was revealed he is on bail. Officers also determined that the plates attached to the truck had been stolen from the Canadian Military.

The suspect has been charged with possession of stolen property, obstructing police, resisting arrest and two counts of breaching bail.

He will be held in custody pending a bail hearing.
