Police received a vague Crime Stoppers tip that indicated a possible threat to an area student on Monday, Sept. 10. No victim was identified in the phone call but Greater Sudbury police thought the tip was serious enough to contact the Rainbow District School Board, due to the threat potentially involving a firearm.

Police worked jointly with the school board to develop a strategy to address the safety of the students and staff while continuing the investigation.

Lo-Ellen Park Secondary was identified as one of many potential locations for the threat to occur, based on the fact the victim was once, and may still be, a student there.

Through the course of the investigation, police identified the origin and specifics of the threat and are now seeking a 25-year-old Sudbury man for uttering threats to a specific individual.

Anyone with information is asked to phone police at 675-9171 or Crime Stoppers at 675-TIPS.
