Suspect in New Year's drug store robbery linked to others

A 38-year-old Greater Sudbury man arrested shortly after a Jan. 1 robbery at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Long Lake Road has been since linked to other suspicious person complaints and pharmacy robberies occurring between Nov. 9 and Dec. 23.

A 38-year-old Greater Sudbury man arrested shortly after a Jan. 1 robbery at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Long Lake Road has been since linked to other suspicious person complaints and pharmacy robberies occurring between Nov. 9 and Dec. 23.

The accused is now linked to incidents at Valley Prescription Centre in Val Caron, Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall Pharmacy and New Sudbury Clinic on Lasalle Boulevard, Rexall Pharmacy on Bancroft Drive, and a Shoppers Drug Mart in Hanmer.

Arrested on Jan. 12, the suspect faces five charges of robbery, eight charges of wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, two charges of possession of stolen property, three charges of possession of a controlled substance, three charges of using an imitation firearm while committing an offence, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, and three counts of weapons dangerous.

He is scheduled to appear in bail court on Jan. 13.
