Taxi driver robbed at knifepoint

At approximately 10:40 pm Thursday a taxi driver was robbed at knife point in the area of Victoria Street in Greater Sudbury's West End. The 39 year old male driver suffered a small laceration to his hand as a result of the robbery.

At approximately 10:40 pm Thursday  a taxi driver was robbed at knife point in the area of Victoria Street in Greater Sudbury's West End.

The 39 year old male driver suffered a small laceration to his hand as a result of the robbery.  He had picked up the two male suspects on Elgin Street, say Greater Sudbury Police.

Once on Victoria Street he was confronted by one of the male parties with a knife. The suspects fled the scene on foot stealing the wallet of the victim and an undisclosed amount of cash.

One suspect is described as 18 to 23 years of age, five-foot-ten, white, male with with short blond hair. He has a freckle or mole on his cheek. At the time of the offense he was wearing a blue “Columbian”   three quarter length jacket with a peaked hood and a scarf over his face.

The second suspect is also described as being between the ages of 18 and 23, five-foot-ten to six feet tall, white male. He had short dark hair and was wearing a dark short jacket, dark toque and hood.

A canine track was conducted at the scene with negative results. The matter is currently being investigated by the Criminal Investigations Branch.
