If possible, park vehicles in the garage, and keep the garage door closed and locked. They also advise purchasing a locking gas cap.

Always lock vehicles during the day and night, including ATVs and snowmachines, as well as doors and windows of your homes, cottages, garages, sheds or any other valuable property such as boats and trailers.

By taking a few extra precautions and locking your valuables and/or having a home security system, it will act as a deterrent and it will save you from becoming a victim, a press release stated.

Retailers sell many different types of locking mechanisms or devices used to secure all of the above valuable property.
