Despite recent deaths and injuries in alleged drunk driving incidents, Greater Sudbury Police dealt with three more incidents of this nature June 27 between 2:20 p.m. and 10 p.m.

In one instance, a 73-year-old woman reversed her vehicle into another person's pool in the South End of the city at around 2:20 p.m.

At 9:25 p.m., a 22-year-old woman was arrested on Montpellier Road after she ditched her car.

Another driver, a 56-year-old man, was arrested in a parking lot of a business on Barrydowne Road after he struck a parked vehicle.

“Unlike the accidents of the previous weekend, none of these involved serious injuries or major property damage,” stated a release from the police.

“All three parties were released on appearance notices, and will attend court in early August to answer the charges of impaired driving and exceeding the legal limit of alcohol. Greater Sudbury Police strongly urge our residents to plan ahead.

“Use a designated driver, public transit, taxi, call a friend or plan to stay the night when your plans include the consumption of alcohol.”
