An eight year old Sudbury boy is in critical condition at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto after being hit by a pickup truck at the corner of Lasalle Blvd. and Auger St. Oct. 18 around 6 pm.
A second child, 10, was also hit by the truck but was treated and released locally.
"It's very difficult to get something from Sick Kids so we don't have a medical update from them but so far the investigation has revealed the young boys were at the intersection of Lasalle and Auger when they were struck and in talking with witnesses we're trying to determine whether the lights were in favour of the traffic flow on Lasalle," said Greater Sudbury Police Cst. Bert Lapalme.
"If charges are going to be laid, they will be but at this point we haven't determined how the traffic lights were set up at the time."
Lapalme said the incident wasn't a hit and run.
Greater Sudbury Police are investigating the incident and are asking anyone with information or who may have seen the incident to call the traffic branch at 675-9171.
