Two males arrested in Sault Ste. Marie as a result of a traffic stop have been charged with robbing a Sudbury bank Tuesday morning.

Both men has been charged with robbery and possession of stolen property relating to the robbery that took place at the Bank of Nova Scotia on
Barrydowne Road Tuesday around 10:30 am.

Facing charges are Denis Haines, 32, of Moose Jaw, Sask., and Jacob Penner, 26, of Aylmer, Ont.

Greater Sudbury Police are requesting the assistance of members of the public if anyone observed a red old-model SUV driving in the area of this bank branch on Monday or Tuesday.

Anyone who has observed this motor vehicle is asked to contact the criminal investigations division at the Greater Sudbury Police Service.

The veteran bank teller who was confronted by a stranger demanding money during Tuesday?s robbery handled herself ?wonderfully and remained
calm and cool throughout. She did a terrific job and helped keep everyone really calm, which is very important,? said branch manager Chuck Pearson.

One man entered the branch and told the teller to hand over some money. He hinted ?he might have something inside his jacket? although no weapon
was ever produced during the brief, but scary incident, said Pearson.

?The teller calmly handed over the money and the robber left,? said Pearson.

This is the first time this particular branch has been robbed in the 18 years he?s worked there, said Pearson.

?You hear about banks being robbed all the time, but knock on wood, there hasn?t been anything like this in the 18 years I?ve been working here,? he said.

All employees hired by Scotiabank are given emergency training. The teller followed protocol exactly as taught, said Pearson.

?Her calmness and composure was very important. She didn?t panic and this made everyone else inside the branch at the time remain calm...she did a great job,?said the manager.
