Two men charged with guns and theft offences

Two men have been charged with a number of offences after Greater Subury Police guns and stolen property inside their vehicle.

Two men have been charged with a number of offences after Greater Subury Police guns and stolen property inside their vehicle.

On June 11 at 2:45 pm officers stopped a vehicle on reasonable and probable grounds that the car contained stolen property, a news release stated.

During their search, police located a .22 calibre rifle with ammunition (a prohibited weapon), a .22 calibre air pistol and lock-picking tools. Also found inside the vehicle were numerous video game consoles and games, cameras and clothing. Police are investigation in order to determine the rightful owner(s) of the items.

The men, both 36, were charged with:
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Knowledge if unauthorized possession of firearm
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of firearm
- Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm /ammunition
- 2 counts of careless use of firearm, weapon, ammunition
- Possession of break-in instruments

One of the accused is also charged with 'possession of firearm while prohibited' and the other faces six counts of fail to comply with undertaking and recognizance.
