Vehicle stop results in drug charges

A search of the 27-year-old man who was driving the vehicle, as well as the vehicle itself, turned up 500 oxycontin tablets, one gram of marijuana and two grams of cocaine. Police later learned the man was prohibited from driving.

The suspect kicked out one of the rear windows of a police cruiser after he was arrested.

He has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and mischief. He is due to appear in bail court Nov. 9.

A 23-year-old woman who was a passenger in the vehicle is also being charged with related offences. She was released from custody pending a court date.
