Weekend RIDE results for Greater Sudbury

On Thursday, Dec.13, Focus Sudbury sponsored a festive RIDE check at various points of Greater Sudbury. In total, 430 vehicles were checked resulting in eight suspected drivers having alcohol in their system.

On Thursday, Dec.13, Focus Sudbury sponsored a festive RIDE check at various points of Greater Sudbury.  In total, 430 vehicles were checked resulting in eight suspected drivers having alcohol in their system.  Two people were issued 12-hour suspensions of their licence and one person was charged with impaired driving.  Two Highway Traffic Act charges were also laid, said a news release.

On Friday, Dec. 14, a second RIDE check was conducted in Coniston, Minnow Lake and downtown area of the City resulting in 373 vehicles being checked.  Eighteen people were suspected of consuming alcohol prior to driving resulting in two people receiving 12-hour suspensions and one person being charged with Impaired Driving.  Five other people were charged with Highway Traffic Act offences.

On Saturday, Dec. 15, a third RIDE check was conducted in the Rayside / Valley East area resulting in 336 drivers being stopped.  Ten people were suspected of consuming alcohol prior to driving of which two people received 12-hour suspensions.  No persons were found to be impaired.
