UPDATE: As a result of targeted enforcement on the 28th of April 2008, members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service Uniform Divison were able to apprehend two youths.  Given that these individuals are young persons, they cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The youths have been charged with breach of probation and breach of recognizance.

Members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service will continue to monitor this area and will approach all violations from a zero tolerance perspective.

Officers of the Greater Sudbury Police Service have been responding to various complaints over the last several weeks in the Kennedy Street area regarding trouble with youths.

The complaints have involved liquor offences, weapons complaints and more.

On Saturday, April 26, an off-duty police officer was in the area when he was approached by one of the area's teenagers. The teen attempted to intimidate the officer to leave the area and when the officer would not comply, the teen returned with a baseball bat and threatened the officer.

Within minutes, uniformed officers arrived and apprehended the youth.

The person cannot be identified because of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The teen is charged with threatening, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.
