Four young men were arrested with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, possession of a narcotic for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime after an incident April 1 when they allegedly pointed a gun at motorists and pedestrians.
The incident happened at the corner of Paris Street and Regent Street. The vehicle was stopped by Greater Sudbury Police in the area of Hyland Street.
Two small black cap guns similar to starter pistols were removed from the vehicle, along with 192 grams of marijuana, cash and assorted drug paraphernalia.
One man and three teenage boys were arrested.
"This incident could easily have ended much worse for these males had they pointed the cap guns at police during their arrest," stated a police release.
"Possession of imitation guns is an extremely dangerous situation as police officers are often unable to determine the difference between real and fake guns in the time they have to make a decision."
