Youth arrested for bomb threat at Ecole Sacre Coeur

A bomb threat was received at Ecole Sacre Coeur School located at 261 Notre Dame Avenue, Sudbury, on April 11. Upon becoming aware of the threat the school immediately contacted the Greater Sudbury Police Service.

A bomb threat was received at Ecole Sacre Coeur School located at 261 Notre Dame Avenue, Sudbury, on April 11. Upon becoming aware of the threat the school immediately contacted the Greater Sudbury Police Service.

The Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel Ontario, school officials and Greater Sudbury Police Service immediately worked cooperatively to address the situation at the school.

With the ultimate safety of students in mind, a decision was made to evacuate the students and the established procedures to address this type of situation were followed. A thorough search of the school was conducted with the assistance of canine units from the Greater Sudbury Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police. No explosive device was located during the extensive search.

School officials greatly assisted members of the Criminal Investigations Division in identifying the individual responsible for the threats, said poolice.

On April 24, a 15-year-old student was arrested and charged in relation to the incident. The identity of the accused is protected under the provisions of the YCJA.
