Youth arrested for dangerous driving, breaching bail

A 17-year-old male youth was arrested after operating a vehicle in a dangerous manner and breaching bail during the early morning hours of Dec. 22.

A 17-year-old male youth was arrested after operating a vehicle in a dangerous manner and breaching bail during the early morning hours of Dec. 22.

Greater Sudbury police received complaints about an individual driving in an erratic manner in the Carmichael arena parking lot.

Attending the scene, police found the 17-year-old youth, who cannot be named under the provisions of the young offender act, skidding around the arena parking lot at high rates of speed and doing "donuts."

The driver was operating a vehicle in a "reckless manner" with "complete disregard for the safety of other pedestrians and vehicle traffic" in the area, stated a release from the police.

The young man was also out on bail, with two separate bail conditions to not operate a motor vehicle without his mother in the vehicle with him.

His mother was not present.

The youth was arrested for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and breaching bail. He is scheduled to appear in bail court Dec. 23.
