Basketball league looking for players

The Sudbury Youth Basketball League is holding player registrations for the 2005-06 season at Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School on Wednesday, Sept. 7, and Thursday, Sept. 8 from 6 pm to 8 pm.

The league is for boys and girls in the following age groups (as of Dec. 31,2005): Mini, ages 8 and 9, Bantam, ages 10 and 11, and Midget, ages 12 and 13.The fee is $80, and limited space is available.

The girls won the match after a shoot out.College Boreal to host six golf tournamentsTo celebrate College Boreal's 10th anniversary, La Foundation du College Boreal has created a truly unique event.

On Sept. 24, La Foundation will host six simultaneous golf tournaments in six cities.The tournaments will take place in Hearst, Kapuskasing, New Liskeard, Sudbury, Timmins and West Nipissing, one in each of the six Northern Ontario centres where Boreal has satellite campuses. The events are expected to draw more than 700 golfers.

The profits from tournaments will be matched dollar for dollar by the Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund and invested perpetually. The interest generated from the fund will be awarded annually to Boreal learners.The Sudbury portion of the event will be held at Forest Ridge Golf and Country Club.
