The Lasalle Lancers put up a valiant effort in the final match of the NOSSA AAA hockey championships at Countryside Arena, which saw them take on the St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Bears. Game time was 6 pm.

They came out in the first period with a fury, maintaining puck control and applying pressure deep in the Bears' zone. Their first period efforts saw them net the first goal and made the game look like an easy win for the Lasalle boys.

cl But the Bears soon solidifyed their defence and by the end of the first the pressure had shifted to the Lasalle end. The Bears put two past starting goaltender Matt Zawerzeneic, forcing the Lasalle coach to throw his back-up netminder, Tyler Maslakewycz, in the frey.

The second period was all about Scollard Hall, as Lasalle seemed lost and the Bears kept the pressure on the replacement, scoring one more before the end of the second.

Lasalle rushed out in the third with a fury, pouring on the kind of pressure not seen in this game since early in the first. Andrew Peltomaki was able to bring the game one step closer for Lasalle, scoring his second of the game.

And though Lasalle tried continuously to equalize, the Bears goalie, Nick DeVuono, stood on his head and managed to keep his net clean for the remainder of the third

Final score, 3-2 for North Bay's Scollard Hall Bears. The Bears will move on to the AAA/AAAA provincial championships in Ottawa.
