Greater Sudbury's Tessa Bonhomme, who plays defence for the Ohio State University women's hockey team, has earned two of the top awards in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) as the conference's Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. Bonhomme is the first Buckeye to receive either award.

Bonhomme is the third player to receive both overall player of the year and defensive player of the year honors, along with Courtney Kennedy (2001) and Rhonda Curtin (2002) of Minnesota.

Bonhomme, the team captain, ranked third in scoring in conference games with 36 points in 28 WCHA contests. She ranked second in assists with 24, just one behind the leader, and was the only defenceman with double-digit goals with 12. Bonhomme had a 14-point lead over the next player in defenceman scoring. She concluded her career as the second-highest scoring defenceman in WCHA history with 128 points. For her efforts, Bonhomme also was named First Team All-WCHA for the second-consecutive year, the first Ohio State player to be a two-time first team honoree.
