Sudbury Jr. Wolves head coach Dave Clancy has high expectations for this year's season.

The team has a great group of veterans returning from last year, such as Chris Kangas and Chris Pontes, according to Jr. Wolves president Blaine Smith.

There are also some newer players added to the lineup. Joel Gagnon, from the Nickel City Sons, and Kyle Shaw, from the Sun County Minor Midgets, are among the 10 newcomers to the team this year.

"Our expectations are both in terms of winning, as far as the team is concerned, but also in developing our young prospects for the Sudbury Wolves team as well," Smith said.

The team didn't win a championship last year but expect to do better this year, Smith said. The Kal Tire Jr. Wolves finished third in the NOJHL eastern division last year, and lost in the first round of playoffs to the Abitibi Eskimos.

"I think this year we have a little more experience than we did last year. We were in the rebuilding mode last year and the guys who played last year all have a year's experience under their belt now," said Clancy.

The team's next home game is Sept. 23 against the Temiscaming Royals at the McClelland Arena in Copper Cliff. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
