The Greater Sudbury Cubs are hosting the French River Rapids in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League Action on Dec. 7. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

The team is hosting the RBC Infant Food Drive, so Cubs fans are asked to bring baby food or make a cash donation at the door — you could win a prize.

“The Cubs won two-out-of-three games played last week and now sit atop the NOJHL standings with a record of 24 wins and seven defeats for 48 points,” the team said in a release. “The Cubs lead the second-place Blind River Beavers by six points.”

Star forward Sam Assinewai was named the Overtime Sports Bar & Grill Player of the Week for this week.

“The 19-year old recorded two goals and four assists for six points in three games played last week,” the teams aid. “Sam’s outstanding speed, power play and penalty-killing skills continue to lead the Cubs to big wins this season.”

In national rankings, the Cubs are still in the top 20, moving up one spot over last week to No. 12.

Tickets for Thursday’s Cubs home game versus French River Rapids are available at the door for $15 for  Adults, $10 for Juniors/Seniors and $5 for Children.
