CUPE local 4705 tees off for NOFCC

CUPE local 4705 (Canadian Union of Public Employees) is chipping in to help families of children with cancer by playing host to a fundraising golf tournament on Sept. 13.

CUPE local 4705 (Canadian Union of Public Employees) is chipping in to help families of children with cancer by playing host to a fundraising golf tournament on Sept. 13.

The tournament takes place at Monte Vista golf course in Val Caron in support of the Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer.

NOFCC helps families in Northern Ontario who have a child that has been diagnosed with cancer. The NOFCC provides financial assistance to families when out of town for treatment to offset food costs,parking fee, long distance charges, gas cost and taxi fares to and from Sick Kids Hospital or CHEO.

Any CUPE local 4705 member is welcome to put in a team (minimum 1 CUPE member per team and a maximum of 18 teams). The tournament consists of four players per team with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The tournament is 18 holes of golf in a best-ball format. Entry fee includes golf cart and a steak dinner for $70.

“We are seeking hole sponsorship to help raise money for the Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer,” said CUPE local 4705 in a news release. “Prize donations are also greatly appreciated keep this event a success for years to come.”
