The Sudbury Five have announced that big 6-9 power forward Evan Harris has signed on to play his third season in the Nickel City for the team’s upcoming season.

The Sudbury Five have announced that big 6-9 power forward Evan Harris has signed on to play his third season in the Nickel City for the team’s upcoming season.

During the 2022-23 season, Harris played 35 games for the Five, averaging 4.5 points per game (PPG), three rebounds per game (RPG), and 0.6 assists per game (APG). Harris also made 19 appearances for the Five in the 2021-22 season, bringing a veteran presence to the team. 

“Evan’s dedication to the game remains unwavering,” said Sudbury FIVE Head Coach and General  Manager Logan Stutz. “He's a true veteran, continuing to showcase his expertise both on and off the  court." 

In other Five news, the team announced this week that another big power forward — this time the seven-footer Andrew Whitsett — will be sporting Sudbury colours this season.

"Andrew is a big guy that Sudbury has needed for a while," said Stutz of the Hamilton City, California native, in a news release. "He offers a lot on the court, on both ends, I am excited to get him

here and to work with him."

Whitsett played college ball at California State University, where he averaged 8.7 points per game (PPG), 5.4 rebounds per game (RPG), and 1.5 blocks per game (BPG) during his senior season in 2019-20 with the Toros. He arrives in Sudbury with 15 pro games played in Azerbaijan for AZB Olympic Sheki, averaging 9.3 PPG, 5.3 RPG and 1.3 BPG.

“I have heard great things about Canada and Sudbury,” said Andrew Whitsett. “I can’t wait to come and show you how we do it in California!”
