Free swimming being offered at city pools

The City of Greater Sudbury is offering weekly free swims at each one of its pools between Sept. 18 and Feb. 14, 2010.

The City of Greater Sudbury is offering weekly free swims at each one of its pools between Sept. 18 and Feb. 14, 2010. There is no charge for admission, and free transportation on Greater Sudbury Transit will also be provided to participants upon request.

This program, called Feel Free to Feel Fit, has been developed in conjunction with the local health community initiative and Greater Sudbury city council to provide affordable opportunities for residents to enjoy physical activity.

The free swim times are as follows:
Gatchell Pool - Saturdays, 3-4:30 p.m.
Howard Armstrong Recreation Centre - Fridays, 6-7 p.m.
Nickel District Pool- Fridays, 6:30-8 p.m.
Onaping Falls Pool - Saturdays, 1-3 p.m.
R.G. Dow Pool - Sundays, 2:30-4 p.m.

All pools will be closed on the following holidays: Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

Children aged 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult (16 years of age or older) and must remain within arm's reach of that adult. Children must complete a swim test to ensure they are able to swim in the deep end.
