The Cambrian Foundation is hosting its second
annual Legendary NHL Stars fundraising dinner Friday, March 3,
enabling dinner guests to mingle with some of the toughest
customers to don NHL jerseys, including John Ferguson Sr. and
Dave Schultz.
The event also features a Northern Ontario
connection with the return of Al Secord, the pride of Espanola,
and hometown heavyweight Troy Crowder.
During the event, dinner quests will take a
walk down memory lane and relive some of the greatest moments
and bust-ups in hockey as TSN hockey analyst Pierre McGuire
goes toe-to-toe with the legendary enforcers. The hockey greats
will be available for photos and autographs, and guests will
have an opportunity to bid on unique sports memorabilia during
a silent and live auction.
Proceeds from the event will be matched to
the dollar by the Province of Ontario's Trust for Student
Support, and will be used to create a permanent bursary
endowment. Each year, in perpetuity, the interest portion of
the investment will be awarded as bursaries to deserving
Cambrian College students.
At last year's event, Hall of Fame
goaltenders Johnny Bower, Chico Resch, Bernie Parent and
Sudbury's hometown hero, Ed Giacomin, helped raise over
$22,000.
Ticket prices are $125 for a single plate, or
$1,000 for a table of eight. Cocktails are at 6 pm and the
dinner begins at 7 pm in the Walter Curlook Heritage Ballroom
at the Cambrian Foundation, 62 Frood Rd.
