Time to get your kicks with the Great North Winter Classic soccer tournament, happening at the Lancer Dome (1545 Kennedy Street) the weekend of  March 2-3.

The second annual event is hosted by the Greater Sudbury Soccer Club and will include teams from throughout the northeast region vying for the championship banners in the U13 to U18 boys and girls divisions. It will also feature the “best 6-on-6 indoor soccer players in the region,” the press release states.

The tournament will start with an opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m. on March 2 and feature an opening address from Mayor Paul Lefebvre.

“We are eager to bring the north together in the winter again under one bubble for a weekend of good sportsmanship and camaraderie,” said Joe Snofi, club president, in a release.

A draft of the agenda and schedule of play will be shared in the coming weeks.
