The Greyhounds jumped out to an early lead with David Kuchejda's goal 5:35 into the first. Sudbury would answer back with Andrew Self's 16th of the year. The Soo then broke the tie before the end of the period when Andrew Desjardins found the back of the net.

A scoreless second period left the Wolves trailing by one heading into the final frame. That changed when Nick Foligno scored his 28th of the season to tie the game.

After overtime solved nothing, the game headed to a shootout. Cody Thornton and Dustin Jeffrey both scored for the Soo while Justin Donati and Akim Aliu were stopped.
