On March 12 at Ecole Secondaire Catholique l'Horizon all students showed up to see their senior boys basketball team take on the Greater Sudbury Police basketball squad.

The police started strong, taking a 27-14 lead at the first half. The second half proved much better for the Horizon boys as they outscored their opponents 31-24, but came up short, losing 51-47.

Jim Jefferson (formerly of Confederation Secondary School and Laurentian University) led all scorers with 25 points (three hoops from beyond the arc) while teammate Mike Raskevcievs (Lockerby Composite School, Laurentian and Cambrian) chipped in with 15 points (two from beyond the arc).

Coach Ghislain Roy led Horizon with 14 points with Jonathan Barnard chipping in with 11 points.

The big winners were children suffering from cancer, as $895 collected from the students will be directed to them.
