Over the weekend of May 19, a select group of 14 Major Atom boys from the Nickel District Minor Hockey League (NDMHL) attended the Lakeshore Thunder International AA Hockey Tournament in Toronto.

The eight-team divisions were comprised of select teams from various United States and Ontario city regions.
The Northern Ontario Bulldogs went undefeated in round robin play, with convincing wins over teams from Cleveland, OH; Detroit, MI; and Niagara Region, ON. The team met a team from Chicago, IL, in the semi-final and won by a score of 8-1.

From there, the team advanced to the final to meet another undefeated team from the Barrie, Ont. area.
The spectators were treated to an exciting final, in which both teams played hard, the game was fast and well played, with the Northern Ontario Bulldogs pulling away in the third period by a score of 6-2.

What made this accomplishment even more special was this was the team's first tournament together.
They defeated several teams who had already participated in several tournaments and had won some of these tournaments prior to attending the Lakeshore Thunder International Tournament.

The NOBs outscored their opponents over the tournament by 35 to 5.
