Lasalle Secondary student Kristine Lalonde has once again been selected for the Under 15 Ontario Provincial Basketball Team.
This is the third time Lalonde has been named to the provincial team.As an 11-year-old competing in the BDP, (Bantam Development Program), a provincial team was selected from over 120 girls from the 12 regional teams in the province but did not travel anywhere to compete.
As a 12-year-old, Lalonde competed in the Ontario Summer
Games once again as a member of the North BDP team. No
provincial team was selected that year.
Last summer was the first time the Lasalle Secondary student
competed nation wide when she was selected as a 13-year-old.
Playing as shooting guard, she was the leading scorer and
three-point shooter for the Provincial squad as Ontario won
gold at the National Championships in Calgary last summer.
Coached by Caitlin Blackadder and Clare Beatty as a member of
the North MDP (Midget Development Program) team, Lalonde
competed at the Basketball Ontario Provincial tournament
recently held at York University in Toronto.
Lalonde, along with 14 other girls, were selected from 144
girls representing 12 regions in the province.

At five-foot-nine, Lalonde is the only returning member to the
team this year, including the coaches, and will play both the
point guard position and shooting guard for the team. The first
training camp was held at the Royal Military College in
Kingston this past weekend where three more girls were cut to
narrow it to the final 12 person roster.
The girls' U-15 and U-17 provincial teams hope to repeat as
gold medalists when they travel together to Sherbrooke, Que. to
compete at the National Championships from August 1 to 5.
