Lo-Ellen Park football players Kyle Cooper, Brett Walter and
Jordyn Andric have been through the good, the bad and the ugly
over the past few seasons.
They've grown with the program, changing the fortunes of the
team along the way, as well as their own lives.
The gridiron game has reached deep into the hearts of the three
young adults and taught them many valuable life lessons which
has made them better people.
The three have been a big part of the rebuilding process at
Lo-Ellen and have taken their share of beatings to help turn
the Knights into a respected program.
Along the way, the threesome has developed into three of the
premiere offensive talents in the local high school league.
All three have all-star potential and they're looking to use
their unwavering drive and will to help propel Lo-Ellen to the
city championship this year.
They've gone through the hardship of not playing on their home
field for the last four seasons. (The Lo-Ellen field had sod
issues.)
They've gone through the rebuilding phase and now are primed to
have a tremendous season with a team intent on ultimate
success.
They want nothing more than to celebrate as friends and
teammates by hoisting the city trophy high above their heads in
late October and rejoice in victory. They were forced to watch
another team do exactly the same thing in 2006.
Last year, they made it to the city final and lost to St.
Benedict. The players put on brave faces as they watched St.
Benedict players savour the experience of being champions.
They want the same feeling and they will stop at nothing to
achieve it.
Lo-Ellen has started the season going 1-1. They play their next
game tomorrow, when they host Lasalle Secondary School (0-2) at
4:30 pm.
Recently, the three players sat down with Northern Life
reporter Scott Haddow recently to talk football, their
motivations and life in general.
