Jr. Wolves defeat Royals

With only 13 skaters in their lineup, the Kal Tire Jr. Wolves defeated the Temiscaming Royals by a score of 7-5 in Temiscaming Friday night.

Zach McGillis led the way for the Jr. Wolves, scoring a hat trick and adding an assist. Chris Kangas scored twice and added an assist while Erik Belanger had a goal and two assists. Jordan Kuruliak added a single.

Temiscaming led 3-2 after the first period, but the Jr. Wolves fired 21 shots at the Royals goaltender in the second period and scored four times to take a 6-4 lead into the final frame.

The Royals made it interesting with less than seven minutes to go when they narrowed the gap to make it 6-5, but Chris Kangas scored an empty-netter with just eight seconds remaining on the clock.

Joey Delwo recorded the win in net for the Jr. Wolves. The Jr. Wolves outshot the Royals 45-37.

The Kal Tire Jr. Wolves will close-out their pre-Christmas schedule with three games next week including a home-and-home series with the Abitibi Eskimos beginning Wednesday night at 8 p.m. at the Garson Arena.

The Jr. Wolves will celebrate Christmas on Wednesday night when Kal Tire will be awarding a set of winter tires to one lucky fan. The New Sudbury Centre will be awarding $2,000 in gift certificates.
