Jr. Wolves drop home opener to Abitibi

Sudbury came out strong in the first, according to a press release, jumping out to an early 2-0 lead on goals from Evan Daciuk and a shorthanded marker from Joel Gagnon. Abitibi answered when Marc-Alain Begin made it 2-1 at the end of the first period.

In the second, Abitibi fought back to take a 4-3 lead on goals from Joel Roy, Justin Lefleur and Josh Clancy. Daciuk replied with his second of the game.

Clancy added his second of the game into an empty net in the third to seal the victory.

Nick McMullen started the game in net for Sudbury, making 20 saves. Abitibi's Eddie Davey made 39 saves for the victory.

Sudbury returns to action on Sept. 16 when the North Bay Trappers come to town. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at the McClelland Arena in Copper Cliff.
