With NCAA, CHL and NHL scouts looking on, Kal Tire Jr. Wolves forward Erik Belanger played an outstanding game and helped to lead Team East to a 6-3 victory over Team West in the CJHL Top Prospects game in Summerside, PEI Wednesday night.

Belanger, a native of Valley East, opted to stay up north and pursue his hockey interests in the NOJHL this season despite numerous offers to play in Southern Ontario.

At 5'7", and only 17 years of age, Belanger was not expected to have much of an impact this season, but the Hanmer native has surprised and has scored 37 points in 29 games for the Jr. Wolves.

Belanger was selected to play in the CJHL Top Prospects game along side some of the top junior players in Canada. Joining Belanger on Team East were Sudbury Wolves drafts Brandon Pirri and Nick Quinn.

Pirri was selected the game's first star and scored a goal and added two assists for Team East. Quinn, the only 16 year old on the Team East roster added an assist.

Erik Belanger has proven that he is one of the very best 17-year-old players in the Canadian Junior Hockey League and he represented Hanmer, the Sudbury Kal Tire Jr. Wolves and the NOJHL extremely well at this high profile national event.
