The Kal Tire Sudbury Junior Wolves broke out of their recent losing streak Wednesday night, when they defeated the Temiscaming Royals 6-3 at the Centennial Arena.

"They're feeling better. It's a lot of weight off their shoulders, having been on a five-game losing streak," said Junior Wolves head coach Dave Clancy.

The game started off slow, with neither team seeing the scoreboard in the first period.

Fans saw a lot more action in the second period as goals were tallied back and forth between the teams, kicking it off with Wolves' Zack McGillis at a minute and ten seconds into the period. Royals' Pier-Paul Landry quickly followed suit just under two minutes in. Evan Daciuk and Devin Lockeyer added to the board, along with Royals' Cédric Boutin and Clayton Happyjack ending the period 3-3.

Junior Wolves' Chris Pontes scored the game winning goal at 5:17 into the third period. With his two assists, Pontes was named the games first star. Erik Belanger and Chris Kangas added to the Junior Wolves victory.

Captain Jordan Cheechoo was named the game's second star with his three assists.
The third star was awarded to Royals' Boutin.

The Junior Wolves will travel to Sault Michigan Friday night to face the Soo Eagles. The Eagles are new to the league and currently sit in first place in the Western Division of the NOJHL.

The Junior Wolves next home game will be on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Garson Arena, where they will face the Blind River Beavers. Game time is scheduled for 8 p.m.
