Junior Wolves eating up competition at Dudley Hewitt Cup

The Sudbury Junior Wolves blasted the St. Michael's Buzzers 5-2 on Thursday afternoon to advance to the semi finals of the Dudley Hewitt Cup in Thunder Bay.

The Sudbury Junior Wolves blasted the St. Michael's Buzzers 5-2 on Thursday afternoon to advance to the semi finals of the Dudley Hewitt Cup in Thunder Bay.

Sudbury was down 2-1 late in the second period, but tied the game with minutes to go in the period, and then pumped in three goals in the third frame to skate away with the win.

Goalie Darren Rowlandson was stellar, making 35 saves for the victory.

Forward Brenden Biedermann lead the charge offensively with two goals. Jordan Prevost, Jacques Proulx and Nick Heins all added single tallies to help Sudbury win.

The win leaves the Junior Wolves with a 2-1 record at the tournament and puts them in a do-or-die game against the Dryden Ice Dogs tonight (Friday)  at 7:30 pm.

The winner moves on to play the Fort William North Stars for the Dudley Hewitt Cup and the right to represent Ontario at the Royal Bank Cup (Canada's national junior A championship) in Streetsville, ON from May 6 to 14.

Sudbury beat Dryden 6-2 during round robin play.
