The Kal Tire Junior Wolves lost their home opener game against the Abitibi Eskimos 5-2 Wednesday night at the Centennial Arena in Hanmer.

The Junior Wolves were coming off a winning high after defeating the Eskimos 3-2 in the season opener on Sept. 6. They weren't ready for the Eskimos to bite back.

"They came out hard, we beat them up in Abitibi, and I figured they'd come out hard tonight," said Junior Wolves head coach Dave Clancy. "They're an experienced hockey club, and we just weren't ready for them."

Veteran Chris Kangas and newcomer Adam Ritchie scored the two points for the Junior Wolves.

The start of the game the Junior Wolves were presented with the 2008 Championship Banner from the NOHA.

The next home game will be Wednesday September 17 at Centennial Arena against the North Bay Skyhawks. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
