Sudbury's Devon Kershaw finished 21st overall after fighting an illness in the final stage of Tour De Ski, on Sunday, Jan. 4 in Val Di Fiemme, Italy.

The 26-year-old finished 22nd on Sunday in the 11 km pursuit race with a time of 35:11.8 which put him 21st overall.

"I'm done, and to finish is a big step forward to me," said Kershaw in a release from Cross Country Canada.

Kershaw failed to complete his first two trips to Tour De Ski. He was in the seventh spot overall heading into the final weekend.

According to Cross Country Canada, a cold plagued many of the skiers on the men's team.

"It is obviously disappointing to get sick, and that put me back in the standings, but I had some great results and collected a bunch of World Cup points, so it was important for me to finish. Ivan was the man today and I'm happy for him," Kershaw said of Canadian Ivan Babikov who won the gold medal.
