Lady Vees soccer celebrates 10th anniversary

The Laurentian Lady Vees soccer program will celebrate its tenth anniversary on Sept. 26. Festivities taking place will include a Welcome Home Alumni Game and the fourth annual Kick for the Cure.

The Laurentian Lady Vees soccer program will celebrate its tenth anniversary on Sept. 26. Festivities taking place will include a Welcome Home Alumni Game and the fourth annual Kick for the Cure.

Starting in the morning, soccer alumni will be in town to kick it old school at 10 a.m. The current Lady Vees take to the pitch against the team's first-ever opponent University of Toronto at 12 p.m.

The team will wear pink jerseys against the visiting team, for the fourth annual Kick For the Cure, a fundraising event benefiting the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Players will continue to fundraise throughout the fall. T-shirts will be available for purchase to benefit the cause.

“It is hard to believe that 10 years have gone by so fast. This program has grown over the years and has become one of the most competitive teams in the OUA,” said the program's sole head coach Rob Gallo. “It was from those who played their first game in the blue and gold that the commitment to excellence has been passed down to the latest group of Lady Vees.”
