There is no doubt the Lasalle Lancers senior boys volleyball team had their sights set on the larger prize.

With an end goal of qualifying for OFSAA for a third straight time, the Lancers took care of step one in very workmanlike fashion on Saturday, sweeping past the Horizon Aigles in three sets (25-15, 25-18, 25-13).

The result hardly constitutes a major shock. With the victory, the Lasalle crew extended a SDSSAA winning streak that now sits at 35 games, dating back to the 2014 season.

This was the fourth city banner in a row for the program, and the third consecutive year that both the senior and junior teams have captured the Division I boys volleyball titles.

The Lasalle juniors managed to stop the Lo-Ellen Park Knights, also in three sets, as coaches Scott Thomas (senior Lancers) and Dale Beausoleil (juniors) now prepare their teams for the NOSSA "AA" playdowns in North Bay on Thursday.

Division II finals would see the Horizon midget boys team claim the junior crown with a five set win over the Hanmer Sabres, while at the senior level, the Sacré-Coeur Griffons remained the class of the field with a straight set victory over the Champlain Requins.

In terms of NOSSA competitions locally, Ecole Secondaire Hanmer will play host to the "B" tournament on Thursday (Nov. 16), with play kicking off at 9:30 a.m. and the championship final slated for 4:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, Lockerby Composite is the site for the "AAA" event, taking place on Friday, beginning at 9 a.m., and wrapping up with gold medal encounters at 5 p.m. (juniors) and 6:30 p.m. (seniors).
