The Lasalle Lancers are on a winning streak in senior boys division one hockey this season, and hope to keep their winning ways straight into the playoffs.

The Lancers have been undefeated this year, with only one tie against St. Charles, and currently sit in first place for their division.

"It's been great ... hasn't always been smooth, but we've been playing well and it's worked out for us," said Lancers head coach Vagelli Sakellaris.

Sakellaris is new to high school hockey this year and said the season has been a learning experience for him. He said the team has worked well together though and suggested they are almost like a family.

Grade 11 student Josh Graham, who is leading the division with goals and points, agreed the team has formed a great union this year, which has helped them continue to move forward with their winning ways.

"We actually have a lot of chemistry now and we're bonding a lot better than what we were at the start of the year," said Graham. He noted the coach has brought them a long way.

"He (Sakellaris) has a lot of dedication and it helps a lot having a coach like that."

Sakellaris' goal for the rest of the season is to finish it off undefeated and see what the playoffs bring.

"Just keep working hard...and determination. It's a strong league, there's lots of strong teams. St. Charles is a very good team. As long as we stick together, I think we'll do fine."

Graham said he would like to see the team win the city championships and move onto NOSSA, where he said he hopes the team will win the title.
