The Laurentian University soccer Voyageurs and Lady Vees return to the pitch this weekend in dire need of victories in their hunt to make the playoffs.

Standing in their way are the Varsity Blues of Toronto and the Ryerson Rams, who the squads will host on Saturday and Sunday.

The women play at noon, while the men play at 2 pm on both days.

On Saturday, the Vees will be looking to avenge a 2-0 setback, suffered earlier this season in Toronto. For the third straight game, the Vees will be playing a nationally ranked opponent as the Blues come into this week ranked tenth in Canada. Three points would be crucial for the Vees as they sit one point out of the playoffs at this time.

On Sunday, the Vees host the Ryerson Rams. At five points ahead, the Rams are still well within striking distance for the women in the playoff race. In an earlier meeting this season, Laurentian came away with a 1-1 draw on visiting soil, and will be looking for even more this time around.

"We have to capitalize on our chances and play flawless defense," said head coach Rob Gallo.  "Although both have been a mystery this season, I truly believe we are capable of both."

The Vees have little to no margin for error the rest of the way. The season hinges on the four remaining games, and the team will still need the help of others if they plan to be playing post-season soccer.

The Varsity men of Toronto sit eight points ahead of the Voyageurs in the tight Eastern Division standings and Laurentian will be looking for a win to gain ground on rival Nipissing University. The Voyageurs played the Blues tough in Toronto earlier this year, and will be looking for much needed points this time around.

On Sunday, the Voyageurs will be looking to take advantage of a weaker Ryerson squad who sit behind them in the standings. A win would give the Voyageurs a season sweep of the Rams, but the men cannot take the Rams lightly though as anything can happen in the tight men's division.

Both games should be hard fought, fast paced, physical battles. Laurentian will need two full 90-minute efforts if they want to come away from this home stand with the full six points.
