Four young local hockey players have taken the first step in hopefully cracking the Team Ontario roster at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge as the NOHA (Northern Ontario Hockey Association) announced their 12 player roster selected from the Regional Program of Excellence Camp in Espanola recently.

The NOHA selections will now prepare to head to Thunder Bay from June 26 to 29 as 80 of the province's best 16-year-old players will vie for 20 spots to Team Ontario. The provincial squad will compete at the 2009 World Under 17 Hockey Challenge being held in Port Alberni (British Columbia) in December.

The following Sudbury players have advanced: Sebastien Leroux (Chelmsford), Connor MacLeod (Sudbury), Joshua Patrick (Lively) and Adam Ritchie (Lively).
